1. Alien Gear - Appendix Holster for Concealed Carry

Top-Rated: 1,116 ratings

Best Appendix Carry Holster

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Our Alien Gear Holsters ShapeShift Appendix Holster is custom-molded to provide an impeccable fit for your Springfield XD Mod.2 Subcompact 9/40 3 in. This ensures a secure carry, allowing for flawless performance during training or daily carry, so you can rely on it in any situation.

Helpful review: "Ok, Alien Gear makes an amazing product period. You need a brain in your skull and fingers to type into the magical Google and find some instructions on the many configurations that may or may not suit you depending on the different shape-shift pack you purchase. To be honest the parts in the box can be a little confusing at first but realize that if you bought the core pack and not just the single appendix carry you are getting many holsters in one. They did a fine job at engineering this thing and they stand behind their product 100%. I purchased knowing that both my weapons would not fit the holsters due to the handguns having different front and rear sights than that of the ones they were designed for. Alien Gear stated that I may try them out and if I wanted to file or cut away any plastic that wouldn't compromise the holster they would allow for a return if I still wasn't happy. Seriously outstanding if you ask me! I took my time and believe it or not I took a lot of plastic away on a fairly important area and that I was afraid would potentially weaken the holster but it didn't. I have been wearing this for many months and put it through my own torture tests and still has yet to break. I have the Core Carry Pack with a 1911 holster which I modded, and 2 Kimber Micro 9 Nightfall holsters that I also modified to fit. Zero issues!!! Just ordered the belly sport band, and the hook and loop to try out as well. If I were to complain about anything is that I would like to see more firearm options, slightly slimmer profile, and height adjustment on the appendix. Some of the mounts in the core carry pack are a little bit useless for me but if you're like me you will make use of them in other areas with the additional shells I purchased. You can mount one on the side of the bed, in a vehicle etc. Don't listen to the haters. The price of a standard crappy appendix leather holster with zero retention is about $40.00-50.00. I can adjust mine so that I am able to do backflips down the street without my firearm falling out of my holster. Talk about retention like a Mofo! Just found out the BS that this review is considered "sensitive" or the product is considered "sensitive".?! What happened to this world? Do we have to pad the world, protect all people from certain "trigger" words? Seriously people this is appalling and this world should be ashamed of what it is allowing society to be pushed into. We should protect each others rights even if we disagree with their views. I would die for any of you out there if it was to protect your inalienable right to express yourself in any way that doesn't actually cause harm to someone. No seeing a written word, or hearing something uttered is not harm we should or can actually protect someone from. Too bad, sorry, that is the cost of having freedom of speech, gonna have to either see/hear things and sure you will have plenty that others will disagree with. We cannot be on this slippery slope people, wake up!!!" — Paul
Trending review: "Freedom seed dispenser shown is a Springfield XD-M Elite Compact 3.8" barrel. As far as modularity goes, I'd love to give this holster 5 stars. However, as is the case most of the time, it is extremely bulky. The base jabs into my thigh and manly bits especially so when seated. Right out of the package it comes with additional fittings for left hand carry, a thumb release attachment, extra spacers to adjust cant and ride. I did not figure out how to adjust cant properly because any adjustments to the belt clip essentially only moved the neoprene sweat guard and didn't actually rotate the handgun at all. Which, if shifted too far, allowed the rear sights to rub my stomach(I'd say athletic build, not a thickboy, so belly isn't an issue otherwise). Retention is excellent with the adjustable tab, so no issue there. The side-by-side comparison here is against a basic appendix WTP holster which itself does not cover the rear sight, but it is molded well enough to keep sight stomach jabbing to a minimum. Price and value, I give this Alien Gear kit a 5, but for comfort I have to dock it points. I do home remodel work so flexibility and comfort play a factor in an active working day. I did end up returning this product, but would suggest you give it a try because every one is different and as goes for holsters, you have to find what suits you best." — TheJohnsons
Reassuring review: "I love Alien Gear and still think it is a great holster. Just not for me. As a in waste band appendix carry holster i felt it was too bulky and it tends to kick the pistol grip out from your body. With the bulk and the tendency for the grip to push out from the body it is not a good IWA conceal carry holster for me. Great construction and very comfy though. (Hence the 5 stars.)" — Jason Elliott

2. BLACKHAWK - Appendix Reversible Carry Inside The Pants Holster

Highlight: The arc. (Appendix reversible carry) IWB holster is designed to be as comfortable as it is versatile. with ambidextrous carry capability, two belt clips and adjustable retention detent, this holster is a must have. Made of soft yet durable injection molded polymer.

Helpful review: "I swear i have the hardest time finding a holster that works for me considering i am about 135-140lbs. I was a little concerned with ordering this holster so i also ordered one of those elastic belly holsters. I usually jave to appendix carry but with the blackhawk holster i can carry at 6oclock and 5 oclock just as well as appendix. I can ALMOST carry at 3oclock depending on what short i wear, amd if you are skinny like me you know that 3 oclock is almost impossible unless you open carry. This blackhawk holster is one of many i have owned and i have never been disapointed. The only thing that i found wrong wasnt a big deal at all. The clip is attached with one small screw and it FEELS a little flemsy...but after using this holster for a while i can tell you that it is actually pretty stout. It also comes with two diff size clips for diff size belts and the clip has two attachment points, one to ride high and the other to ride high. It is also reversable for leftys and rightys. The pictures dont do it justice. It is much smaller than it looks and it works great for my swshield9mm...and for anybody wondering, the shield ONLY comes in single stack, no matter if its 9mm or .40.....this holster appears to be molded for this weapon in particular so no it will not fit the mp models...only shield....also for the record, i was NOT offered any products for free or discount. it would be nice lol but i really feel that honest reviews are EXTREMLY important when shopping online. I cant stand the people who ONLY leave reviews when something is wrong...i personally only leave reviews when the item is eother really good or really bad....this item was really good and i would suggest it to anybody..big or small" — blake
Trending review: "I've only had this for several days, worn it on and off swapping with a barsony leather IWB holster.
The obvious: small holster that doesn't spread out, no body shield which might mean direct skin contact.
A couple of things. At 6'2" 215 I figure I'm just too fat for appendix carry. No problem, this holster slides around just fine.
Also putting the clip for "high ride" really makes the pistol top heavy and easy to roll the belt. I changed it to the lower setting.
I ended up carrying this about 2:30 or so, just forward of the side although I'm still playing with that.
I have no problem with the clip itself except that the clip itself is thick and itself prints on the belt, possibly drawing attention to that area. Might just be me noticing that.
Otherwise I have to agree this is a pretty darn good value for the under 17usd I paid for. If anything its a good backup holster with good adjustment options.
Update: Sadly with no backing I do sweat directly on my shield 9mm.
Another update: Now that its cooler I put a tshirt under my normal shirt. I barely notice the pistol now, decided to upgrade to 5 stars, although I wish the holstercame up higher and had a sweatshield option.
Another update: A positive: with the clip profile being so small I found I am able to sufficiently tuck around the holster clip to get it to more than adequately conceal when wearing a dress shirt. I need to adjust the holster height as it digs too much into my leg while sitting at the deepest setting. I'll need to work more with the holster settings to make it comfortable for the time I'm at church." — Brian
Reassuring review: "The adjustable retention is an excellent feature, and should be standard on all IWB holsters. I love everything about this holster, and i have quite a few other holsters. The only possible down side would be the belt clip being some what flexible, but if you use an actual concealed carry gun belt, like a 511 leather belt, it stays very secure. Been wearing this for a few weeks, in texas, so wearing T-shirts, and it conceals a m&p shield extremely well, with no printing. This holster out performs every other IWB holster i own, and is the only one i can comfortably appendix carry with. Wish i would have bought this before wasting so much money on other holsters that don't work as well. This review is from a LEO who carries every day on duty as well as off duty. EDIT: been using for 6 months and the belt clip is holding up very well. I highly recommend this holster." — Epc81

Helpful review: "I just took possession of what I believe to be the finest AIWB holster available on the market today. And YES, I"ve seen the competition. Let me sum it up for you. The rigs that are less expensive than the price of this rig all have KEY features missing when it comes to carrying appendix COMFORTABLY and truly CONCEALED. On the other hand, the products that are more expensive are overpriced won't give you much, if any, added comfort or concealability for all that extra change you shell out. The Coreflex has ALL of the important features and you get them all, executed to PERFECTION, and you get it for in the ballpark of HALF the price you'd pay to get anything comparable.
-The kydex is thin and PERFECT moulding
-The implementation of the Kydexx "lever" or "wing" Iand Kydex "hump" on the other side) is the most awesome I've ever used and works better than every example I've used to date...just awesome design!
-The shock cord system keeps the holster flexible and tight to your body
-The ride height, although perfect with the as-shipped settings, is widely adjustable for ride height AND retention (mag carrier and pistol carrier, independently) (in addition, the Ulticlips are another option that adds supreme hideability and more versatile attachement options to the belt/clothes, including when tucked)
-Multiple colors available not only for the Kydex but also the shock cords and holster hardware point locations
-The holster comes with a nice felt/fleece logo'd carry bag for the holster, loctite for securing all of your screws and washers for full holster dial-in process, handwritten note in the box with R/I sticker included, extra washers seemed to have been included and there is a bag containing a new Allen key for adjustment of the holster (ie, pistol retention, ride height, cant, spare magazine retention. (The shock cord can also be "adjusted" so that it allows the user to have some control over the tension of the "bend" between the mag sidecar versus the pistol portion of the kydex rig.)
-The user can swap out shock cording of a different color as he/she sees fit.
-Lifetime Warranty, NO BS..... if it fails, they will fix, replace or otherwise take care of you. Worry free warranty, in my eyes. Esepcially at this price point, .....tooo coooool! (I actually had to contact them about something minior about a month or two after purchase....it was handled quickly, smoothly and honestly they went above and beyond all of my expectaction...... so, yes, customer service is EXCELLENT - I know first hand.)
[I've tried to post this review a couple of times and Amazon denied it, so I'm trying this again]. I will attach some photos of the rig ..... It is truly a piece of Kydex art.
Keep it up, Radial Innovations!" — nickE10mm
Trending review: "This holster is by far the most comfortable that I've worn. I don't have the name brand sidecar holsters, so I can't directly compare, but if they're anywhere close to this, then they're way over priced. I bought this holster to test. I figured, it's looks just like the T1 or the t-rex, but at a fraction of the cost and returnable. So if I didn't like it I could just send it back without fighting some big companies CS. But that didn't happen.
This holster conceals better than my regular AIWB without the mag holder. Mostly because this one spreads the "bulge" across my body, so it doesn't look like I have a tumor on one side of my stomach. Very comfortable and bends and moves with me as I bend over or move around. Easy to sit with or tie a shoe.
The company seems great as well. I got a business card with a hand written thank you note. And much to my surprise, when I opened the package, there was a box inside the holster. Opened that up and there was a small EDC flashlight inside! Not the brightest, not the most sturdy, not rechargeable (takes one AA) but it was free, and I've been looking for a small flashlight like that to keep in my pocket, as I don't carry with a weapon light. So that was a HUGE plus that wasn't mentioned in the description, just a bonus gift.
Can't be happier with my purchase!" — Matt Harris
Reassuring review: "I was a traditional 4 o’clock IWB Righty for nearly a decade. Switched to appendix carry recently and this holster was what I chose. This is in my opinion an amazing holster especially for first time appendix carriers. I have no desire to go to another holster and I love mine. Sure it takes some getting used to. To give some detail I am a smaller framed slinder guy so printing is a challenge to deal with. I carry the Sig P365xl with Romeo red dot and I print way less than what I expected with normal proper fitted shirts. Bottom line this is a good investment. Yes the price is up there, but you get what you pay for. And you should invest well in a holster. A cheap one could very well cost your life. So spend the extra 50 bucks or so guys. You won’t regret it." — Deputy Sheriff

4. DeSantis - Hidden Truth Gun Holster

Highlight: The Hidden Truth Gun Holster is the latest addition to the Pegasus Kydex line by DeSantis. The holster is crafted to fit a range of firearms including Glock 19/19X/23/45. The holster is handcrafted and shipped from our USA plant

Helpful review: "Always wanted an appendix holster for my G19 but didn’t want to spend $130. This is adjustable with ride height and tension. Looks good. It takes getting use to even if you’ve carried appendix before because it’s bulkier with the mag holster attached.
The only down side is the bottom of it does dig into my body. But, I haven’t adjusted it properly yet. So maybe that will stop if I have the holster sit higher. But initially, it will dig into you. Most appendix holsters do so, I’m not mad about that. Just part of carrying appendix.
It does need a claw to draw the grip into your body but at this price point, I understand why there isn’t one.
All in all, I would recommend it to see if this kind of holster is for you, then, upgrade to the more expensive sidecar holster. If you don’t like it you’re not losing $100’s." — William A. Anderson
Trending review: "I bought this thanks to another review saying it was good for big guys.
I took a chance on it and I really liked the fact it has a side car for your extra mag. The holster arrived promptly and it was packed well. Took it out and sorry to say immediately shoved it down my pants. Didn't quite fit, but the holster can be adjusted to ones needs quick few turns with a medium size phillips and the fit was now amazing.
Retention is great for the pistol with I use a Glock 17 and Glock 19. The side car I will say it picky on the way you load your mag but it retains it well, though it sits a bit higher than the grip of your pistol.
The holster is very comfy for me with no modifications.
Only bad part it my wife also liked it so she then claimed it for herself, thats ok though I ordered another one.
Hope this helps." — Daniel
Reassuring review: "I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I rarely leave feedback/reviews on products. Specially not just after unboxing and trying on this product. This holster fits like a glove. I recently ordered “and Returned” a T-Rex Armas holster that I paid about $100.00 more than this one. And unfortunately Is was very, very uncomfortable. I figured I order this DeSantis and give it a try. The first thing I noticed, was my gun actually clicked in place, not so with the T-Rex Armas. The fit is perfect, comfortable and the quality seems good so far. Putting on the holster was quick and easy, with the other brand, I would struggle greatly. I’m glad I have appendix carry a second chance. This holster also has no printing. Thank you DeSantis." — Marco Martinez

Best Appendix Carry Holster

Highlight: Adjustable Locking Retention and Adjustable Carry Angle (cant) 0-15 degrees. / Covered Magazine Release Button to Prevent Accidental Release of Magazine.

Helpful review: "Great product for the money! Edges are nice and smooth and overall construction is great. Comes with 2 different wings if you're skinny enough to appendix carry or additional hardware to remove them. Shipping stated around 2 weeks and I received it much sooner than expected. It fits my P-01 Omega perfectly and has a full sweat guard which makes carrying even more comfortable.
Retention is adjustable and keeps my weapon secure in all types of precarious positions. I'm glad I took a chance on this over paying much more for other holsters that fit the Omega." — Jason Hills
Trending review: "Bending & cutting kydex isn't rocket-surgery, but it requires care and attention to detail to make a good holster. This holster is similar to some almost 2x the price, tho' just a slight notch below.
Pro: Very nice look. Good (plastic) clip, Good 'wing' w/ a taller replacement wing in-package. Nice positive 'click-in-place'.
Con: the holster barely contacts the right-side decocker lever (cz p-01 omega). The holster is ~6mm longer than muzzle (could be shorter).
I can/will fix the decocker contact wit a hot pliers - easy. I might shorten the length, but that's real surgery, and not different from other holsters.. I might replace the plastic clip w/ a $12 dcc mod4. It's still a bargain and well made.
I would like if the vendor offered an (upcharge) 'wedge' for AIWB.
Also the delivery was excellent - ~2 days prior to earliest expected date." — Stevea
Reassuring review: "This is my second holster from Sunsmith for the same pistol. The other is the IWB holster which I carry at 4 o'clock. Now that I prefer a 1 o'clock carry, I needed an update. Luckily for me, Sunsmith has me covered. There aren't a lot of choices out there for the CZ P-01, particularly for inside the waistband but these are just good, quality made holsters for a grate price." — Amazon Customer

6. GRITR - IWB Appendix Concealed Carry

Top-Rated: 185 ratings

Best Appendix Carry Holster

Highlight: This inside the waistband pistol holster features an optic cut and open bottom to accommodate different red dot sights, threaded barrels, and compensators, allowing you to customize your Glock 19 pistol the way you want and still have a great holster to carry it in; All GRITR handgun holsters offer the optimal combination of comfort, performance, and functionality

Helpful review: "Works great. I was worried that it would not fit my optic but it fits fine. However the 509t is sitting on two plates and I’ve ordered a 509t plate for my MOS. When I get the plate installed the optic will sit to low. I will plan on just removing a bit of kydex and it will fit fine. This beats paying $90-$120 like I have done in the past for these kinds holsters. You are not missing out on any quality. If you order one you might not like the back piece cause it digs in a bit but it does it’s job well and hides the top portion of the gun. That has been a printing issue for me in the past. All this considered, I believe you will have a hard time finding this good of a holster for this price. Pretty much can’t be beat." — Jessica
Trending review: "First impressions. I'll wear this for a month and update this review. This is a quality appendix holster. Running it with a G26 and it is comfortable and doesn't print. Has the wedge that presses the gun back, plus the pre installed ravenclaw that presses the grip back. About as comfortable an AIWB holster as I've ever worn. Is it perfect? No. I have yet to find an AIWB holster that is. But it does hold the firearm securely and helps to prevent it from printing. Easy to adjust tension. Came fairly loose and I had to tighten it up a bit. Overall happy to find an AIWB holster with sidecar that has wedge and claw available for LH shooters. Will update after a month." — Brian T
Reassuring review: "My first appendix holster rig and I am very satisfied. It’s comfortable for every day carry however, I have to get used to removing or maneuvering it out of the way during pee time. Great holster and a decent price. Well worth the money." — Dorian
