1. Bedone - OWB Paddle Holster

Top-Rated: 3,395 ratings

Best OWB Holster

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: This OWB paddle holster fits 3.1'' Barrel S&W M&P Shield 9mm/40(with Optic), Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield PLUS(with Optic), S&W M P 2.0 Shield 9mm/40 - Right Handed(Note: Doesn't fit guns with laser or light)

Helpful review: "First off comparing the price to any other OWB Holster, you simply can't beat this Holster. Secondly, this paddle style holster attaches very quickly to your belt or trousers very quickly. And comes unattached just as easily. You don't have to worry about looping this through a belt. Also you don't have to worry about your pistol being exposed. The only thing exposed is the hand grip. Which is what you want. The locking mechanism on this holster works flawlessly. When you holster the weapon, it clicks rather silently into the holster. When you are ready to draw the weapon, gently lay your finger alongside the holster and press the button. Which unlocks the weapon for a quick release and speedy draw. Comparing this to the other holsters, such as the one I have in the picture is like comparing a jet airplane to a WWI Bi-Plane. The single clip holsters don't hold your weapons securely to the body, they flop to one side or the next. This wide paddle holster will hold your weapon securely and comfortably. And again, compare the price of this against one of the traditional styles. This can't be beat. My first Springfield 1911A1 came with a similar style paddle holster. The only problem, half the gun is exposed. Not so with the CYTAC series of Holsters. Also these come with an Allen wrench that allow you to adjust the angle of draw to suit each person. Fantastic product. As an owner of a lot of styles Pistols and Holsters, this gets my vote over any of the others by far. I highly recommend this product." — MRH
Trending review: "I am very pleased with the purchase of this holster. The quality was outstanding for the price. My Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm fits absolutely snuggly--no movement at all. Yet, the draw is amazingly smooth. I was in disbelief at how little it pulls on my waistband when I draw. The weapon does stand out from my waist just a bit, but that is not a problem for me because I only carry outside the waistband when I wear a jacket. The release button is very tactile and easy to find and push. If you are shopping for an OWB holster, I highly recommend this product. The Amazon seller, Dayes' Store, communicated with me before and after the swift delivery to make sure I was satisfied. That was a nice touch!!" — Dennis S Jones
Reassuring review: "Glad I got this OWB holster for my M&P Shield 9mm (1st Gen, not 2.0)
Holds the gun securely in the holster and the release button is easy and comfortable to use. Very ergonomic and after a little training it because natural to extend a finger to depress the release.
The holster has tabs that "latch on" to under your belt. For a slide-on/clip-on holster, it really stays securely in place so it won't pop out when your draw your firearm, are running, or someone tries to grab and rip your gun off your hip. (It is just a slide-on/clip-on and with enough force I'm sure someone can rip it off your belt.)
The clips are tight enough to slide right onto a pair of pants or shorts with out a belt and will stay in place.
Comfortable to wear and so far I have not seen any damage, scratches or marks on the gun from the holster." — Boston Jonny

2. GUN & FLOWER - Open Carry Holster for Outside Waistband

Top-Rated: 1,247 ratings

Best OWB Holster

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Level II Retention with Index Finger Release System, that means your weapon will stay in the holster without any chance of falling out unless you press the release button to make your smooth draw. Perfect for law enforcement and personal use.

Helpful review: "The Gun & Flower brand EDC holster is perfect for my Glock 17. This Kydex holster improves upon other similar design. I like this design so much better.
Pro's
-----
+ The paddle adjusts for cant with just the enclosed hex wrench, versus a bunch of slotted holes on the paddle.
+ There is also a belt clip option that accommodates a 1.5" belt.
+ The gun is securely holstered with a positive click sound.
+ The release button nice and big and aligned with your index finger so you can quickly place the web of your thumb on the backstrap of the Glock and sweep your index finger over the release button and draw the gun straight out.
+ Draw in one concise motion for speedy dispatch.
+ It is safer as your index finger is completely parallel to the bottom of the slide & top of the frame rail so you can safely draw, acquire the target before moving the index finger to the trigger. (other brand's release button is lower)
+ The paddle works best for OWB with any pants comfortably versus needing to rely on a properly sized belt.
+ The fit and finish is clean and smooth.
+ Very comfortable, secure, fast and adjustable to a variety of carry needs.
Con's
-----
- The belt clip is a bit narrow and doesn't fit my 2" holster rig, only up to 1.5".
- Additional caution w/ any firearm customizations.
This is a great every day carry, action pistol, etc Glock 17 holster." — Leland C
Trending review: "This polymer (not kydex) holster fits full sized Glocks of the 17 or 22 variety. My 22 slipped in like a glove. The holster also accepted a Glock 19, perfectly - although, of course, the holster is longer than needed for a 19, but it really doesn't matter. The fit is tight. This comes outfitted as a paddle holster, and includes a secure belt loop attachment (you have to swap out the paddle, using an included hex wrench). The hex wrench also allows the user to adjust cant - all the way around 360 degrees.
The most important feature is the retention system. A small arm catches the front of the trigger guard when the Glock is inserted. In my experimentation, this arm did not trip the trigger on a cocked weapon - but be careful and check this for yourself. To draw, you depress the big button on the outside of the holster and pull the grip. The button rocks the retention arm away from the trigger guard (which is spring loaded to otherwise stay in the closed position). I found it works well. I would not gift this holster to a law enforcement professional who is not accustomed to the retention system, but for the private citizen, it is fine and adds security to prevent the weapon leaving the holster.
The paddle works well. It has a friction surface on the inside (against the body) and, well fully inserted into your waistband, the design of the paddle - with retention clips - keeps it secure and in place. Actually, I find it difficult to remove, which is good. I have not tried the belt loop attachment, but it is a locking open and close system that should be 100% secure.
My only concern will be the durability of the spring system in the retention mechanism, but that will be a long term assessment. But, since I will usually just use this from time to time at the range, I'll probably never get there. Good holster at this price - if you want an OWB with a retention system." — East to West
Reassuring review: "It's a basic holster that attaches to a belt. My G17 5th gen fits in it perfectly. It fully covers the trigger and protects it from being snagged and you can't draw the weapon without pressing down on a button on the side. The button is perfectly intuitive and large enough to depress in a hurry as you draw the weapon. Excellent OWB holster for your Glock for the money." — Oscar

Helpful review: "Decent OWB holster for the money. Fits my Glock 19 Gen 5 like a glove. I barely feel it on my hip. The belt clip is super convenient. No need to take off your belt to attach this holster. Just clip and go.
My only gripe is for some reason I thought this was a level 2 style holster with a button release. I won't take off any stars for that though. Was my own fault for not thoroughly reading the description. I assumed the locking mechanism for the belt clip was a release button for the firearm" — Micah
Trending review: "Well worth the money even though I have multiple pistols that are Glocks it fits my Glock 17 Gen 3 pretty perfectly but my glock 19 gen 3 I don't really like how the holster holds the Glock 19 but for the Glock 17 Gen 3 it's wonderful. I also have iwb holsters as well. With the Glock 19 I have a iwb (inside waist band) holster and for my Glock 17 I have a owb (outside waist band) holster and I have an (EDC) everyday carry." — Sean Pippin
Reassuring review: "I have Pole Craft IWB and OWB holsters for my 9mm's and 1911 45 ACP's, These holsters are well made and the prices are below what you would expect to pay. I highly recommend Pole Craft holsters." — Jay D

Helpful review: "I carry a PSA Dagger with raised sights (suppressor height or optics height, whichever way you refer them). Fits like a charm. Comfortable on the hip. Excellent price for a basic holster that fits snug to the body and doesn't lean over or wobble with a good belt." — Aidan White
Trending review: "While not perfect, it fits my Zev Oz9 Elite which is similar to a G17 Gen3. I normally don't like paddles, but I like the paddle on this holster, it is comfortable, secure, and sits close to the body. Another reason why I bought and prefer this holster is that it is passive retention and cut for optics.
This holster is perfect for casual range use, it is my range holster, but I will use something else for competition use and practice." — Portland Original
Reassuring review: "I have never purchased an OWB before, but this one rocks. I felt dumb since at first I thought it was broken , however upon consultation, tightening the 2 screws adjusts the tension and then it makes an audible click. Not knowing this, my pistol slid in and out with no audible click leading me to be leave it was broken. It didn’t come with instructions so that was the only down side being a novice to buying one of these. Now that I get that those screws adjust the tensioner, I am confident this holster with last a long time." — Ron

5. CYTAC - OWB Holster for Glock 17 22 31

Helpful review: "I previously bought the version for my Taurus G2C 9mm compact. I liked it so much that I ordered this version for my Glock 22 3rd Gen .40 cal.
The holster is well built, holds the weapons securely and stays in place when drawing the weapons.
I recommend this holster to anyone looking for a quality owb holster without breaking the bank." — Steven
Trending review: "So I personally don't like belts, and so I wanted a pistol holster that would prevent someone walking up behind me and just yanking my pistol off me. This holster gives me the little time I need to realize if someone was trying that and slow them down. Now here is the most important part in my opinion... If you look at the pictures I included, this is the only holster brand that puts almost like sharp barbs at the top of the teeth that grab your waist band and so if someone tries to yank this off you with the holster, the sharp teeth grab your waist band and don't allow the paddle to slip off. It will literally tear your clothes before it comes off, unless you use two hands and pull the paddle and holster open before taking it off. I like this because all of the other brands don't have this sharp edge, and when we tested them, with a slight tug the whole holster comes off you. This doesn't do that. So I'm keeping this holster as it is the only brand paddle holster that truly can't be easily yanked off you. Just carry an assisted opening (one handed opening) knife on the opposite side from your firearm in case anyone ever tries to take your firearm and you can use your non dominant hand to retrieve your knife and get them off you while they are focused trying to get your pistol." — John
Reassuring review: "Pros: Durability is great, my Glock 17 fits in it like butter. It's designed to securely fit by clipping onto your waistband (pants/skirt/shorts-not really elastic waistband JSYK) or over your belt pretty well.
Cons: It click locks into place securely, however to release it you do have to press a flush button on the holster and it could hinder the rate of speed if you have a concern for that type of thing. Take for instance I took a Glock self defence class and part of the training taught us to take the gun out in one sweeping movement exactly like the gun is an extension of your hand and their is SPEED behind that type of maneuver. Imagine it must be of concern in some competition shooting as well. Just depends what you expect to get out of this type of designed holster.
For regular everyday use, casual or home protection purposes, this holster fits the bill perfectly to keep it where it needs to be: available when you need it." — L. Loso

Helpful review: "This one’s for my Sig P226 MK25 and I also have a WTP OWB paddle holster for most of my full sized sidearms. They are tough, comfortable and in my opinion, the best value out there. The paddle slips in easy and does not, I repeat, does not turn the belt loose during your presentation. I find myself choosing these and passing over my expensive “custom” holsters. Are there “better” off the rack holsters out there for OWB concealed? Maybe, but I’ve not found one at any price. It just does it’s job and does it very, very well while at the same time being merciful on the wallet. I’ll be purchasing more in the future." — Daniel
Trending review: "At first I thought this is justa molded piece of plastic that will shatter in no time, nope sturdy built. As soon as I slipped my Sig P365 SAS inside there was a little pop and my pistol was a snug as a bug. Hung the holster up side down, no movement, gripped it firmly. Yet when you want to draw the Sig it will remove easily, no drag. I recommend it. It will even fit the mini p365 with the safety. Have not tried it with the XL. I am now looking for the IWB. And for that I want a holster that has some softness to it. For an OWB, it is very comfortable to wear. You will forget you have it on." — Domestic Deployable
Reassuring review: "YES THIS FITS THE XDM 10MM IVE BEEN LOOKING HIGH AND LOW FOR A HOLSTER!!! I HAVE THE 4.5 AND IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE ONCE YOU ADJUST THE TENSION SCREW!!! only had it for a day so i cant yet speak to its durability but if it turns out to be sub-par i will amend this reveiw to reflect that but for right now im over the bloody moon that i found a kydex paddle holster for my 10mm." — Torque
